Reading your résumé like an ATS…
How the resume keyword scanner works
- Paste the job description (the whole post works best).
- Upload your résumé as PDF or Word.
- We extract the skills, tools and phrases the employer repeats, compare them with your résumé and show matched and missing keywords.
- Our AI suggests which missing keywords to weave in where they honestly fit your experience.
Why keyword match decides your shortlist
Applicant tracking systems rank candidates by how closely their résumé matches the job description. Two equally skilled people can land in very different places simply because one wrote "Power BI dashboards" and the other wrote "reporting tools". Mirroring the employer's exact words, wherever they are true for you, is the fastest way to move up the list.
What is an ATS, and why does it reject good résumés?
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is the software companies use to receive, sort and search job applications. Workday, Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse, Lever, SuccessFactors, Zoho Recruit and the software behind Naukri and LinkedIn job posts all work the same basic way: they turn your file into plain text, split it into sections, and let recruiters search and rank candidates by keywords.
The problem is the first step. If the software cannot read your file cleanly, your experience lands in the wrong place or disappears. A recruiter searching for "Python" or "GST" never sees you, even if you are the best fit. Nothing is wrong with you; the layout simply did not survive the robot.
What this free checker looks at
- Robot readability: tables, text boxes, two-column layouts, headers and footers, icon fonts, graphics, scanned or image-only PDFs.
- Contact details: whether the ATS can find your name, phone, email, LinkedIn and city.
- Sections: whether your headings match the ones ATS search for, like Work Experience, Education and Skills.
- Impact: how many of your points show measurable results and start with action verbs.
- Modern format: details Indian employers no longer expect, such as date of birth, marital status, parents' names or a photo.
- Job match: paste a job description and see which key terms you already use and which you are missing.
ATS-friendly résumé tips that work in India and abroad
- Use one clear column and standard headings: Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills.
- Keep your name, phone and email in the body of the page, not in the header.
- Export to PDF from Word or Google Docs; never scan or save the résumé as an image.
- Start each point with an action verb and add a number: people, money, time or percentage.
- Mirror the exact skill names from the job description where they are true for you.
- Leave out date of birth, marital status, religion and a photo unless the employer asks.
Questions people ask
How many keywords should my resume match?
Aim for 70% or more of the key terms in the job description. Above 80% puts you in a strong position for most ATS rankings.
Should I copy the job description into my resume?
No. Add the exact skill names only where they honestly describe your experience. Keyword stuffing is easy for recruiters to spot.
Is this ATS checker really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no card, and you can check as many versions as you like.
Is my résumé safe?
Your file is opened and parsed inside your own browser. Only the extracted text is sent to write your coaching notes, and we do not keep your contact details unless you ask us to send you the report.
How accurate is the score?
The structural checks use the same kind of text extraction real ATS use, so what you see in the robot view is a faithful preview. Every ATS is slightly different, so treat the score as a guide to what to fix, not a guarantee.
Which ATS does this simulate?
The checks cover the behaviour common to widely used systems such as Workday, Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse, Lever and SuccessFactors, and the parsers behind job portals like Naukri and LinkedIn.
What is a good ATS score?
Above 80 means the robot reads you cleanly and you are in good shape. Between 55 and 80, a few quick wins will lift you into the shortlist zone. Below 55, fixing the layout usually brings the biggest jump.
Can I check against a specific job?
Yes. Tap "Add its description", paste the job post, and you will see your keyword match and the terms to add.
